Every year, the Fondation du Musée d’art de Joliette (FMAJ) organizes a benefit auction to finance the Museum’s educational activities and its developing programs. Traditionally, this auction was held during the MAJ Ball, but the pandemic has led us to rethink our approach. Therefore, this year, the event will be held entirely online. With the support of the many generous donors of the Foundation, we have collected exceptional lots for you this year, mostly composed of vintage wines, works of art, trips and unforgettable experiences.
The Fondation du Musée d’art de Joliette would like to acknowledge the exceptional involvement of the two Honorary Co-Presidents of the auction, Ms. Jessica Harnois and Mr. Daniel Vézina, as well as the members of the Honorary Committee: Mr. Laurent Berniard, Mr. Simon Blais, Mr. Guy Doucet, Dr. Valérie Falardeau, Mr. Yvan Guibault, Dr. Félix Grégoire-Bertrand, Me Emmanuel Préville-Ratelle, Mr. Domenico Simonetti.

Biography —
LOUISE ROBERT
Born in Montreal in 1941, Louise Robert began to exhibit her works at Galerie Georges Curzi in 1975. She also exhibited in major institutions: Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (1980); Quebec House Gallery (New York, 1983); Centre culturel canadien (Paris, 1983) and Brussels (1984). A major retrospective was presented at the Musée d’art de Joliette in 2003, then at the Centre d’exposition de Baie Saint-Paul in 2004. Curator Jean-Émile Verdier also dedicated a major exhibition to Louise Robert at the Maison des Arts de Laval in 2007. Louise Robert has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Cent onze dessins du Québec (MACM, 1976); Montreal Painting Now (Concordia University, 1982); and L’Anarchie resplendissante de la peinture (UQAM, 1992). Louise Robert’s works are found in numerous private collections and museums, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and Musée d’art de Joliette.
GWENAËL BÉLANGER
Born in Rimouski in 1975. Lives and works in Montreal. Gwenaël Bélanger has had solo showings of his work at the Centre Optica, Montreal (2006), at the Galerie Graff, Montreal (2004), at the Centre des artistes Caravansérail, Rimouski (2003) and at the Centre des arts actuels Skol, Montreal (2002). He has also been part of several group exhibitions, including the Manif d’art 3, Quebec City (2005), where he won the People’s Choice Award; Glissements, art et écriture at Galerie de l’UQAM (2005), and La Triennale L’Art qui fait boum! (2003). He is currently completing his master’s degree in visual arts at Université du Québec à Montréal. Gwenaël Bélanger is represented by Galerie Graff, Montreal.
EN MASSE
These works are cut-outs from the mural Ma Murale En Masse, created in collaboration with the professional artists of the collective En Masse Pour Les Masses along with some twenty families, as part of a collective workshop, at the Musée d’art de Joliette in September 2015. Inspired and guided by the artist-mentors, the families created an amalgam of motifs linked and integrated by the artists with the goal of designing a collective work embodying the creativity and imagination of youth, adults and artists.
En Masse Pour Les Masses is made up of artists from a variety of backgrounds including graphic novels, graffiti, tattooing, illustration, design and fine arts. Its goal is to encourage and strengthen communities through the collective creation of large-scale black and white murals.
JOCELYN PHILIBERT
Jocelyn Philibert studied communications at the Université du Québec à Montréal (1975-1978). An installation artist, communicator and author, he is particularly interested in architecture, urbanity and environmental issues. His works are composed of salvaged objects and various natural elements, thus combining the memory of his frequent walks in the forest as a youth with his experience working in a factory. In more recent years, Philibert has been merging disciplines in “recordings” that he creates after choosing a site during the day and returning in the evening to take photographs in the dark. These successive, unfocused images create the impression of artificialized nature, an out-of-sync reality. In the end, the final image resembles a photograph but is put together on a computer.
